Behemoth School of Nursing and Midwifery

Located at Busaana in Kayunga District, Behemoth School of Nursing and Midwifery undertakes to produce Nurses and Midwives at Certificate and Diploma levels, who will provide professional services that will contribute towards health development in healthcare institutions in Uganda, East Africa, and the world at large.  The School targets School leavers from both the Ordinary (O) and the Advanced (A) levels based on the Uganda curriculum or its equivalent. It prides in offering affordable education and although it targets Kayunga District as its catchment area, qualified students from low-income families in other Districts find it a better alternative due to its policy of provision of affordable education.

There is a serious shortage of Nursing staff in Uganda.  Based on the WHO report, Uganda has a nurse-patient ratio of 6 per 100,000 against the WHO recommended ration of 2.5 per 1000.  Currently, Uganda has 44,099 nurses serving a population of 40 million, and there is a high demand for the training of more nurses to address the high crisis.

The School is informed and guided by the admission policy of the Ministry of Education and all aspirants MUST have attained at least passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at the Ordinary (O) Level or its equivalent; for the Certificate courses, and such passes should not be older that two (2) years. For the Diploma Courses the aspirants MUST have attained the Advanced (A) level or its equivalent with at least a Principal pass in Biology.  The Inter-Ministerial Inspection Team of the Government of Uganda inspected this School in 2017 and recommended its relocation from the rented premises to better and more ideal grounds in Kayunga Municipality.
